2006 Press Release

BUTLER GROUP PUBLISHES TECHNOLOGY AUDIT ON COPPEREYE GREENWICH

CopperEye Greenwich Provides Lower Cost And Higher Performance To Enterprise Search For Managing Growing Volumes of Business Transaction Data

February 1, 2006 - Stamford, Conn. - CopperEye, an innovator in enterprise search software that delivers order-of-magnitude performance improvements and cost savings, today announced the publication of a Technology Audit on CopperEye Greenwich, by the Butler Group, a Datamonitor Company. In its review of CopperEye Greenwich, the Butler Group noted that legislative needs are driving increasing demand for the storage and retrieval of all types of data, and while storing the data is being addressed through increasingly affordable storage systems, the significant remaining challenge is the timely retrieval of records when needed and this is now being addressed by CopperEye Greenwich.

"There have been many high-profile cases where the inability to retrieve required data in a timely fashion has led to the imposing of fines running into the millions of dollars," noted Michael Thompson of Butler Group. "It is becoming apparent that organizations are beginning to offset the risk of being "found out" and the financial impact of that, against the cost of implementing storage infrastructures that can handle the second half of the legislative requirements - that of search and retrieval. The only area of storage requirements where companies fall down is the ability to carry out structured queries against structured data when it is not in a database. This is where CopperEye Greenwich comes into the picture - it fills in the missing piece of the puzzle."

In the report, Butler highlights several key characteristics of Greenwich that provide companies with a solution for timely access to their transaction data:

a. the underlying indexing technology is proven at the enterprise level;

b. organizations can fully comply with data storage and retrieval requirements;

c. deployment is quick and easy, with maintenance tasks highly automated;

d. SQL access to non-relational file systems is provided.

Greenwich achieves a combination of high-performance and low hardware cost as a software-only solution that delivers rapid retrieval of specific records from within billions of rows of structured, unchanging data, stored on low-cost file systems. As a result, CopperEye Greenwich effectively eliminates cost and complexity as obstacles to maximizing the value of business transaction data by allowing companies to create high-performance data repositories for record-intensive applications at the lowest cost possible in today's market.

"The Butler Group Technology Audit provides an insightful perspective on the market need for improved access to the large volume of transaction data generated by businesses," said Kate Mitchell, chief executive officer of CopperEye. "In its review of Greenwich, the Butler Group has recognized the power of CopperEye's "structured search" approach and concludes that Greenwich meets the pressing business need for affordable, timely access to months or years of retained business transactions."

CopperEye Greenwich is currently available on all tier-one UNIX platforms. Pricing is determined by the number of rows of data under management and is tailored to each customer environment. Pricing typically represents a 75-80 percent reduction in the cost of hardware and software for traditional commercial database approaches of comparable performance.
